While we were in Houston for Spring Break, the city of Frisco cancelled school for the following week and the county ordered that all citizens engage in social distancing (stay 6 feet away from others, avoid crowds larger than 10). Online schooling started the Tuesday after spring break, which was a logistical miracle! The above order was declared March 25 which demands that all non-essential businesses close and that people stay home as much as possible. However, we have been encouraged to pick up food from local restaurants and to support small businesses however we can.
These are our Bradford pear trees in full bloom when we got home from Houston. Because of the location of our house, our trees bloom a week after the rest of them in the neighborhood. (Also, notice how green our weeds are!)Alex and Emma thought this was a good idea. And dumped in my kitchen table. And hardly came back to it. It became my past time!
Dan picked up some classic NES games on the Nintendo Switch to help pass the time for him.
Our game closet. Currently we have a huge stack on the counter downstairs from games we played but haven't hauled back upstairs.
My Spring Break sewing camp. My last one until the shelter in place restrictions are lifted.
PE at the disc golf course. It was hot and wet (muddy). Not a great outing this time.
YUCKY shoes.
Alex and Emma decided to pour paint to pass the time.
eLearning work station. We are immensely blessed that everyone has their own computer, our printer is full of ink, and our wifi is satisfactory. Alex works in the office, Ryan in the game room and Macers in the family room.
Chicken chooks.
Scrabble with Dan and Macey. Yeah, Dan beat us.
Our first Sunday of home church where the boys passed the sacrament.
Sunday Monopoly game.
Macey's school fort.
Another PE outing.
Watercolor art class; Macey.
Mine.
Skype piano lesson.
Just your regular school day!
Sunday service; making cards for nursing home residents.
Class Zoom meeting (video conference call with homeroom teacher.)
It is spring here and the weather is beautiful!
Lucy is happy to always have a human within 6 feet of her! Even if it is right on top of my yarn project!
Exiting night life.
Joy riding past the longhorns as we go pick up Thai food.
Spoiled?!
Family zoom meeting with Bob and June's crew. We played Psych!, an online trivia game.
General Conference. Yay, something normal for us! However, conference with 10 people in the room and all the music pre-recorded was strange!
More general conference lounging.
I made up some white handkerchiefs for the solemn assembly on Sunday celebrating 200 years since the 1st vision.
Another class zoom meeting.
Hair dressing is not an essential service, so these grays will just keep on growing!
Making masks for the Navajo Nation.
I used old flannel bed sheets and some ancient hand be down fabric to make 17 masks.
Primary Activities for girls service project. I dropped off 65 cards to the nursing home.
Seeing a classmate on our daily walk.
Easter gifts. I took the bunnies to a sewing mom, Felicity, and Jo. The chickens were for Megan.
Time to trim my bangs. It seems to be a never ending task since I missed a lot the first time around!
Easter Sunday!
Dropping off our gifts.
Eating chocolate squirrel bootie!
Of course the fridge started rattling the week of spring break when we were all hoarding food and things were scarce. I waited until Easter and then the food all had to come out for the fridge to defrost. It is now running nice and quiet again.
Dan heading out for a run. He has been home for 6 weeks straight (I mean, we all have been, but this is super strange for Daniel!). He has been using his home time to play games with the family, running and catching up on some DVR shows. He still works extremely hard day in and day out. Bless him for being able to provide for us during this uncertain time!
Lu was getting a bit shaggy, so she had to step into my rona (the euphemism folks are using when referring to the coronavirus, which causes SARS-COVID-19). So far I've trimmed Dan, Alex, Macey, my bangs and Lucy. Hoping Ryan can hold on until a salon opens. His hair is tricky tricky.
All cleaned up. She doesn't look much different, but her personal areas are cleaned up so she'll be staying fresher longer!
This has been such a strange time in the world. I do not take for granted how easy it all has been on our family. Alex got a new job working at a grocery store when his other job was lost because the business had to close its doors. My day to day hasn't changed that much. I have the same tasks of cleaning, shopping and managing the kids affairs. Our family was happy to begin with, so there hasn't been any struggles being trapped in our 3000 sqft house together. But there is so much sorrow, anger and hurt in our country. Our economy has taken a beating and will continue to for months to come. It is hard to know which news to trust, which advice to take. Daily prayers and consulting with the Lord keeps me on an even keel. Trust in the Lord and lean not on thy own understanding. And as always, Philippians 4:13 for Pete's sake!
