Because my opinion matters...
Do not spend $10 to watch this movie. Do spend $12 and go buy the soundtrack. Do spend a $1 at the red box just so you know what you missed.
Rob Pattinson was gorgeous in a few scenes. However, the makeup and contacts weren't all that great for him. I do hope that Mr. Pattinson gets a chance to fill another role as a Brit. He is talented and I think part of his poor acting came from having to practice every line to get his accent out. He wasn't 'free' to fill in the role I don't think.
I went in hoping for Harry Potter quality but instead witnessed an after school special.
It did not help that girls would SCREAM every time 'Edward' came on scene.
Bella was not dazzled, befuddled or stunned by Edward. Obviously it is hard to make a person blush, but this Bella was a little too tough for me.
The good news: the books will not be tainted by watching the movie. None of the actors (except for Chief Swan) will even stay in my mind while reading through them again.
Mostly I feel cheated. I was hoping for a quick movie to get a fix for my addiction, but alas, I'll just have to delve into the Saga every few months instead.

Thanks for the heads up!
Jim has been wondering if we should see the movie. I bet he is curious to find out what all the hype is about.
What a BUMMER! I did have a feeling that it wasn't going to be good though, so I guess I won't be dissapointed. I'm still curious though. Thanks for your review!
I didnt' love it, but I think I must have liked it better than you. I think it was a fun movie and the squealing girls only made it better. I think they did an okay job and the next movies from the series will be even better now that this one is a success. I would see it again, I liked it! I think, though, if you didn't read the books, you would miss SO much. I agree though that you can still read the books and have your OWN characters still come alive!
You were right Crystal...at church today, all the Young Women, the leaders, and maybe 5-7 people came up to me today to tell me how much I looked like Bella Swan. Now I can't wait till it comes to DVD, I might have to drop the $10 to see it now just for sheer morbid curiosity.
Yep...Meaghan is ONE HOT Bella Swan! Even though she hates her. I had a great time going to the movie with you. I hope we can do it again, except for this next time find a better movie..because Twilight was C-H-E-E-S-E-Y!!!!
Don't forget the part where Bella's hair is blown by the fan, in slow motion, and Edward just about throws up. Or when Jasper looks like he is going to throw up-all the time.
Now, Harry Potter 6 looks very exciting!!
Miss you my dear friend!
Good to know. I want to see it, but now I will wait until I can rent it. Too bad it wasn't all it was hyped up to be. People I know stood in line for hours to see it opening night. I wonder if they were as disappointed as you.
I couldn't force myself to pay the money so I haven't seen it. I really have no desire to see because most reviews I've read are like yours. I thought Rochelle's comment above was funny. Of course the movie was cheesy, the books were too! I also don't like the actress that played Bella. She wasn't very good in the other movies I've seen her in. And don't even get me started on the actor that played Edward. He looks nothing like the Edward in my head. Maybe someday I'll rent the movie....
I guess I am in the minority, but I actually enjoyed it. I thought Edward did a good job. But, my expectations weren't that high. I knew it was pretty low budget (relatively) and was targeted mostly for teens. I guess I wasn't expecting Oscar-worthy performances or dazzling special effects. What I enjoyed the most was a night off from kids!!
