Friday night the boys of the house loaded up and went to the White Tank Mountains. It was a windy day, but that didn't stop them. They got up there at 6pm and set up camp near the playground. Bruce and Charlie (the dog) came along just before full dark. I sent up a small telescope. Turns out that a star gazing group was there so they got to use some awesome telescopes. They saw Saturn, close ups of the moon, and a galaxy.
Dan says the sleeping was LOUD because of the rattle of the tent in the wind. The boys didn't seem to notice. The woke up and had breakfast. (They couldn't have a fire because of the wind; they used a Coleman stove for their eating pleasure.) They headed out for the waterfall hike. They spotted a scorpion by the bathrooms. Ryan hiked the whole trail without being carried. The boys made it home by 11:30am. They had a great time.
While the boys were gone I spent Friday night with Kasie; she is a busy gal, and if she is available I have to seize the opportunity! We hung out poolside and had a yummy meal. Saturday morning, early, I got up and tackled the house. It was a good 3 hours of sorting, cleaning, and polishing. Have you seen those signs, 'My house was clean yesterday, you missed it'? Yeah, the boys came home and pretty much undid what I did. That's alright; we LIVE here and one day I'll be glad to have hand prints left on my door.
Then Julianne invited me over to help hang a new light fixture in her kitchen. I didn't see it through to completion, but it looked pretty good when I left. Ladies: don't be afraid to put up a new light or ceiling fan. It does require patience and determination, but it really isn't that difficult. I'd be glad to help anytime.
Once I got home, the family loaded up and headed to a grown-up party with one of Dan's high school friends. Ryan got his 'fins' back and was swimming around. Macey had her first dip in the pool and enjoyed it.
Sunday was the Gila Valley Temple dedication. It was broadcast at the church. It was fun to see the prophet and very uplifting to feel the Spirit of the House of the Lord. It makes me want to go to the temple every week.
