Hot Springs, AR vacation

Lucy started worrying the night before our trip. She was sure to be the first one in the car!
Hot Springs, Arkansas is 4.5 hrs away. Thankfully, Lucy likes car rides!
We stayed in a condo this year. This 'resort' had lots of amenities. Activities we did included: shuffleboard, tetherball, mini-golf, mini-tennis, hot tub and paddle boat.

Our first night we went searching for pizza. Our first stop lead us to the shady part of town (across from the horse track!) where we came across this taco shop's crazy sign.
Vacay tradition of napkin art.
We escaped! With 19 min to spare. We were trapped in a room with this robot.
Next stop was a pirate mini-golf course. It was a very cool place.

Shuffleboard at night. We were concerned that the weather would be bad the rest of the week, but actually, it only rained one day and not for very long.
Oh right, there was also ping-pong and a sauna.
Warming up at the firepit.
We are gamers and Thanksgiving break is the week we do the most card, board and video gaming as a family. This is Smash Bros on Nintendo Switch.

Alex and I went to the Garvon Gardens, which is a UofA school of Architecture design project.

These 3 went on a ropes course and go-karting instead of the gardens.

Lots of down time, though Alex kept us going on our games and activities.
The Pancake Shop. We had a 45 min wait, but it was so delicious! We got enough food for 3 breakfasts!
The waitress told us to dig a hole in the middle of the pancake and fill it with syrup. This keeps the syrup from running over the sides of the plate.
We didn't take any pictures, but we also went Quartz digging. We were only there for an hour and it started to rain on us, but we came home with a happy haul of clear and milky quartz. And we also came home with a lot of mud!
It is hard to tell in this lighting, but our shuffleboard pucks were black and red. Dan couldn't tell the difference so he decided to wear his color blind glasses. When he put them on he said, 'Oh, so these are black and these are red!' We were joking that he had his color blind stick!
Dad and Mace on the water.

Here we are at the Purple Cow. Alex and I split a burger so we could enjoy dessert!
This is my purple cow. It is vanilla ice cream in an Italian soda.
The day we tried to get into the Hot Springs pool, it was closed. Whoops! But we did purchase a glass jug and filled it up with 140 deg water.  This is the public fountain where you can access the hot springs.
When mom chooses to sit in a chair instead of on the couch.
Crammed in the backseat with forced snuggling!
Happy Thanksgiving! Lunch was at Whataburger on the way home! (Cracker Barrel had a very long wait, and no one was very hungry. Good thing we had our Thanksgiving feast with the missionaries before our vacation!)

Cen10 marching band

Handing out show shirts. My volunteering for the high school band is all dedicated to uniforms and attire. We had such a mess to clean up for all the things that were donated and dumped from the school drop offs. It was a good 6 weeks into school before Melissa and I were allowed to go up to the school to get started on this weird season. I fitted nearly every band member in their uniforms because we wanted to limit the number of volunteers who were in contact with the kids.
This sums up the season pretty well. Notice the black bell covers (instrument masks), the kids in the stands wearing masks and being spread out to increase social distancing. The kids are finding ways to laugh and be together to make band fun this year. There won't be any competitions and not even a real 'show'.
The section leaders play the national anthem. Alex gets that privilige this year.

Emma with her mask and bell cover.
Here I'm ironing all the uniforms.
UNT acceptance letter. Guess what this boy wants to be when he grows up? A band director.
Alex and Emma playing national anthem again.

Packing the tiny trunk for homecoming game.

The coldest game of the year! So far!

They play most of their games indoors, but of course homecoming and senior night are outdoors. Burr.

This is homecoming, but since Al hungout with all bandies, I figure it can go in this post!

And our Senior!
