Downtown Montreal.
The weather was so cold we found some indoor activities to do. Here are visiting the Illusion museum.
This is a group of runners stretching before they head out. We were laughing so hard at people running in the middle of a snow storm.
Us enjoying Andree the chocolate shop.
This girls were very excited to clean the snow from the car.
We took a bagel making class. It was really fun. I've never done a cooking class while traveling before. I'd do it again!
We each made 3 montreal style bagels.
We went to ice skate outdoors, but it was 10 degrees and the girls refused! So for our alternate entertainment we went to the Biodome, which is part of the 1976 Olympics complex.
I found some time to crochet. This is the beginning of a scarf. Fingering weight yarn takes forever to complete a project, but it such beautiful yarn that I'm sticking with it.
Dog sledding. The puppies loved pulling the sleds. It was cold, but a great outdoor activity on the mountain.
We had actually planned to do much skiing for the girls and I was planning to hit the slopes at least one day, but alas, MJ crushed her tailbone and wrist while snowboarding on the first day which forced us to find other activities!
Also, it was VERY cold. Sophia said it was the coldest she's ever been skiing.
French Canadian Walmart.
This is poutine. MJ asked for it everyday. It is french fries with gravy and cheese curds. I liked it well enough to eat in Canada, but I don't think I'm going to start cooking it at home.
This was another vacation first for us, a food tour. We had bagels, cannolis, gnocchi, swarma, and poutine. YUM!
I'd say Quebec is a lot like Texas in that they consider themselves separate from the rest of their country. I did find this painting of Mary holding a maple leaf to be funny.
New to my vacation must do's is visiting a local yarn shop. I bought some wonderful locally spun and dyed yarn to make a cowl for me.
Our first night in Montreal we went to Old Port. The girls ice skated and we froze waiting for them to finish!
This fast food meal of a burger and poutine was hilarious. One order was definitely enough food for 2-3 people. Canadians need their calories!
At the airport on our way to Cananda!
