The waterfall was a rather large undertaking. But it turned out awesome. I took large yard refuse bags and cut them open. All the paper on this wall cost $1.88! The waterfall was made of 2 blue tablecloths overlaid with blue mesh ribbon. (The sky was a bonus from the YW activity the night before!)
Look at this awesome tiki blow-up borrowed from a scout leader. For dinner we had chicken kabobs, rice and fruit kabobs.
Actually, there were a few other projects I forgot about that I did with the boys previously. I went to den meetings and with the boys we planted grass, made a poster board, and made Message in a Bottle invitations.
They also made these tiki masks!
I didn't really take a good picture of the tables. They were a modge podge of leftover napkins, utencils, table cloths and cups. We were being resourceful and using what was on hand! For the centerpiece there was the tiki grass cups, these Survivor keepsake blocks and glow sticks (for the arrow of light slideshow).
This was the award tree. I originally thought I would put fish in the waterfall, but that waterfall was precarious and not sturdy enough. We stapled the plastic baggies with awards inside the leaves and taped them to the tree. The boys enjoyed pulling their names off the tree.
Ryan earned two beltloops: science and pet care.
Cake decorating with the Survivor Theme.Ryan had bugs and rock candy on his cake.
Alex was the Senior Patrol leader for the 11 year old scouts, for a whole week before turning 12. He got to do his duty and help with the Crossover Ceremony.
It took 6 hours (half the night before) to get this room finished. But it looked awesome and the boys enjoyed playing with the balloons afterwards. A great night.
