Sept stuff

Number 34 in red on the sideline? Yeah, that is my Wildcat!
Alex is feeling like the kicking on his football team is a little weak so he spoke up to coach and said, "I play soccer. I'd like to be the kicker."  Apparently, coach looked him over and said, 'Yeah? Why don't you practice that and we'll talk about it next week." So we have been heading over to the football field any time we can and have been practicing! What do I know about middle school kicking? Nothing, but being a know-it-all helps because Alex trusts me to know what I'm doing. At least we are kicking the football many, many times. Hopefully his coach will COACH him and then we can really know what we are doing!
Wouldn't it be great if our little brother loved fetching all the kicked footballs? He is good for about 3 kicks and then he starts climbing stuff.
Or throwing stuff that isn't footballs. We'll keep you posted on the football progress.
Surprise! Alex has had bloody noses for years, mostly at night. But over the summer it had gotten to the point where he was begging me to take him to the doctor. I sure did, but Alex did not expect a procedure that made his nose hurt! The doc 'sealed' his irritated blood vessels with I don't know what, but this should stop the bloody noses. Hope so, 'cause I don't think Alex will let him do it again! On the creepy side, we got a very in depth look in his nasal passages on the big screen TV. Another thing Alex wasn't too impressed about. :)

Lost Tooth

At lunch my tooth got very wiggly and I pulled it out and got two dollars from the tooth fairy!
Macey said one day, "My tooth is wiggly!" Having heard this statement a few times before I replied, "Great! It will probably be a while before it comes out." I was WRONG! It came out the very next day. Macey said, "It was ready to come out. It didn't even hurt when I pulled it out." My baby has lost her first tooth! These kids are growing up way too fast around here.

Running!

This Labor Day our family decided to run a race on the spur of the moment. No training per se, just healthy folks out for fun!
Rise and shine for 7:45am start time.
Macey warming up with Dan.
We were divided up in 3 categories. Macey, Ryan and I ran the 1K Fun Run first. Alex and Dan started their races at the same time following our race, but Alex went 5K and Dan 5 miles.
Macey was a determined runner. She would sprint and then walk and then sprint and then walk; no gentle jogging for that girl! Ryan walked a lot too. Guess these kids could use some endurance training! But they did their best and didn't quit and I'm proud of them for their efforts.

Us 1K-ers had to wait while the other two ran their race. We cheered on the runners. And played games at the sponsor stations.
Macey even took a post handing out medals for a time.

Alex finished 5th in his category (I know it says four, but the overall winner of the race was in his division and finished in 17:45. Yikes, that was amazing and fast!) Alex says after he runs track at school he'll be trained and he'll do better. Also, he could find a race that that fast kid isn't running in, and then he could finish better! Considering he didn't prepare for the race and that he didn't really want to run it, but we signed him up anyway, I think he did amazing!

Dan the Man came in 2nd place in his division. This is amazing when you consider he walked in the door from his Phoenix vacation at 12:30am. Proud of this guy and his healthy body!
It was a super fun way to finish off 'summer'.
