Disjointed

Back in early spring I was popping my various joints while sitting on my bed. For some reason I decided to pop my left foot on the outside. There was a rather unpleasant sound and a discomfort that followed. Nothing critical, just a feeling that that wasn't a good idea.

After that event, when I would first wake up in the morning my left foot would ache for a few steps, but the pain never lingered. If I napped or sat funny in a chair, my foot would hurt but again nothing serious. I went to see my Dr in May and mentioned this foot pain and the Dr said I should do some stretches but not to bother going to a foot doctor unless it is really uncomfortable. So basically all of 2021 my foot had this annoying pain in it.

On the day I set up my Christmas tree, I was sitting criss-cross applesauce on the ground. I pushed myself up with my feet and I felt a 'pop' in my left foot. I thought that was interesting but wasn't too sure what that was all about. I kind of thought maybe I had finally broke whatever little bone it was all the way, but it didn't really hurt, so it was a kind of mystery. The next morning when I got out of bed my foot did not hurt. I actually didn't even notice until a day or two later when I thought, 'Hey, my foot doesn't hurt anymore!' What had happened was that I had moved a joint out of place; what I needed to do was to see a chiropractor, but instead I just endured a long year of discomfort until it finally resolved itself (thank you, Jesus!).

This was an object lesson for me which I have endured simultaneously with other very difficult trials. 2021 has been the most emotionally difficult year of my life, and I've had some hard years! I have leaned on my Savior whole heartedly, giving him my sorrows and then snatching them back, and then relenting and giving them up again. Giving him my depression piecemeal until I could let it all go. I have never lost sight of my identity as a daughter of God even if I had lost hope concerning some of the other titles I carry.

At the end of July I was sitting in Sacrament mtg and I had a peace come over me so clearly, so succinctly that it was like I could hear the Lord saying "Now I'm pouring 300 ounces of Grace right on top of you to get you through the next slog." He has been my mainstay to my covenants, to my relationships and to my responsibilities. I know I am weak, but I can do all things through Christ's Grace and Atonement, which strengthens and enables me. Recently a healing has occurred that can only be described as a miracle, and just as smoothly as my dislocated joint returned to its proper place, I feel like this other hardship has been returned to its proper place and there is peace in my heart again. I thank God for this peace. I am grateful for my spouse, my children and my friends who have endured this section of the journey with me. There were potholes, ditches, flooding, washouts, fallen limbs, and fallen rocks blocking the easy way. The hard way required faith, trust, prayer, fasting and patience. I'm blessed beyond measure, and I do not take for granted any of the blessings or hardships that have fallen upon me. God is good, Jesus saves, and it will be all right in the end.

Temple Trip

I went to the Dallas Temple 11/30/21. I often attend the temple and walk away thinking, 'that was nice' but not necessarily receiving new revelation. On this particular day I had 3 ah-ha moments that really connected me to the Lord.

I had a few minutes before my appointment so I was directed to sit in the celestial room for about 8 min while I waited. I am in Mosiah right now for my personal scripture study so I opened that up to read for a few minutes in chapter 2. I had a profound grasp of our insignificance when you consider that God made and owns the dust of the earth, so therefore he owns us. Yet he gives us the air we breath (by lending you breath) and allows us to "live according to your own free will and even supporting you from moment to moment." This feels so personal. God is not unknown; we are his!

While performing the ordinances I had a profound peace settle upon me that reassured, heartened and comforted me to let me know that I WOULD become a queen in the House of Israel, that I will have the joy I seek someday. No more assurances were given at that time, but it was enough for that day to know I will be blessed for keeping my covenants.

The last moment occurred as I was preparing to drive away. I noticed the nativity was out, so I parked my car and got out to take a picture. Immediately I saw the image on my phone, my heart was full to bursting of the truth about Jesus. The fact that I have studied the temple so thoroughly helped me to make the connection that Jesus and the temple are one idea. One doesn't work without the other. In 2002 Dec Ensign one of the questions in the Visiting Teaching message asked 'How is our Christmas celebration made more meaningful through our knowledge of temple blessings?' Back in 2002 I didn't have an answer. I didn't understand at all! But today looking at this picture I could see clearly that Jesus was the key "to unlock the gates of heaven and let us in." I posted this picture on FB tagged with #JesusistheReasonfortheSeason , but while driving home I further decided that actually, I am the reason! The temple and Jesus are provided and dedicated for the exaltation of me and the whole human family. Christians see Jesus to help us become 'good enough' to get into Heaven. But the truth is, Jesus gets everyone into a state of glory, but His ultimate mission is to exalt us to become heirs of the Kingdom which is so humbling and beautiful and powerful!

Nov 2021

My turn to go to Denton for Al's concert.

This was an insane puzzle. 1500 pieces. I actually considered giving up 1 hour in thinking it would be impossible. But a good audiobook and many hours later, I did get it done in about a week.

Carli and Macey at phase 2 All Region tryouts. Both girls made it into a Region band, which is a big deal!

Plumbing in our house has been a sore spot this fall. We had the plumber come to unclog a drain. He proceeded to let us know we need a new hot water heater soon and the shower valves need to be replaced (walls ripped out, insulation added). A week later the garbage disposal starts leaking! I was so mad; I did not want to call a plumber again. So I purchased and installed a new garbage disposal.
No lie, same day the mailbox suffered from this fate. Plumbing yet, masonry no. Ugh! We don't really know what happened, but I'm thinking a delivery truck reversed into our mailbox.
R driving us to the Veteran's Day parade.

All Region concert. We went through a lot to find all concert black for my petite little lady!

Sewing class.

Kristina and I have happy hats (our cowgirl hats). This is my other happy hat. It is ridiculous and I embarrassed myself wearing it while talking to sane people who didn't know what think of my crazy hat.
We went to a little lake house here in Frisco. It wasn't lush accommodations, but being trapped in a smaller space together is the idea, so it worked.
These two are standing at the skatepark buying entry fees to 5K and half marathon races. Alex has a new passion: running!

Family game time included Mario Party.
The loft the boys slept in.

After Thanksgiving it is out with the pumpkins and in with the pine trees!

I pulled out my sweet potato vines in the front yard and harvested these tubers! I should have just cut them back for next year, but I didn't know!
That's right, another plumbing problem. Something broke internally in the faucet that it would no longer emit hot water. Big eye roll here. Of course I was like, changing a faucet? sure, i can do that. Well, when it is a rusty mess then I cannot do it.
God Bless John R and his tools. He literally took a saw and cut the faucet off! The new one was fairly easy to install, but since he was already down there, I let him go at it!
Everyone needs a handy friend who is game to fix anything. Yeah, yeah, we need to actually repair the mailbox or something, but for now it is still standing...

FALL -Oct 2021

Fall is my favorite. This is when I get to take my wagon down to the local nursery and fill it up with pumpkins! Stephanie came with me this year.

Most of the time that I pin something on Pinterest it doesn't come to anything, but these letters were so darling I had to buy the pattern and make it. I think it turned out super cute. I made into an oversized hot pad to keep on the table instead of a runner.
This made me laugh because it looks exactly like a smiley fry like you get at the hospital!
I'm a bird person, and when I see I gigantic vulture strolling the 'hood I need a picture!

Lunch with Alex. We went to Denton to watch Ryan at a band competition.
These pictures loaded backwards, so we are leading the State Fair segment with a baby goat in a bucket!
This was the only thing Ryan wanted to do at the fair.

And this is why a dragged my family to the fair this year: my 2020 temperature afghan won a ribbon!

This isn't THE Tex, just a knock off, but we never made it to that part of the fairgrounds. We enjoyed walking on the midway, checking out the crafts, seeing the baby animals and petting zoo, and watching the herding dogs compete.

Fall also means soccer.

Just our Black/DeLucia crew leaving the field on a regular Saturday!

Sewing class.
Ramen puppy.
Surprise, our college boy came home.
"I want to learn to skateboard." Um, okaaaaaay." We borrowed a friend's board for a few weeks to see if she really wanted to skateboard, and turns out that she did!
Big Texas sky over the soccer field on a rare weeknight game.
Another Wester band concert.

Mr Smith is the best middle school band director!
This is our Halloween picture! Dan took M with her girlfriends trick or treating and they didn't snap a pic of them. They were all different colored crayons.
This girl squeezes in trips to the skatepark when she can. The concrete is so smooth, she is spoiled and doesn't like to skate on sidewalks.
Watching the skateboarding demonstration at local skate park.
This is our only pic from Trunk or Treat. M and I decorated the trunk to look like a jungle and then we wore our dino costumes. We got to lead the costume parade! She couldn't sit in her costume, so she is lying here having a rest!

Halloween Party with Worms the day before Halloween.

My Halloween assignment was to hand out candy and pick up these boys from work. They then proceeded to go trick or treating as pizza delivery guys. LOL
