Tail end of March

These kids made some fabulous eggs. Since we waited until the day before Easter to do this activity, we didn't have Dad and Alex with us. They were delivering mulch for Boy Scouts and then off to a soccer game on the other side of town.
Can you see the glitter? Makes for a mess when you go to peel them!
Macey learned to ride her bike in the fall, and on this day I told the kids we were going to ride our bikes a mile to the ward Easter picnic. Macey was nervous, but she did awesome!
Look at all these kids! It is nice to have children in primary. We miss our Plano 8 friends, but it is good to have young families around us.
So, this was the Easter Egg pick up. The grown-ups spread the eggs on the soccer field and the kids picked them up. Macey said, 'That wasn't much of an Easter Egg hunt.' Nah, but it was fun anyway.
Bring on the mulch. I laid the pavers around the front of the house. It took me all week to do it, but I finally finished just in time for the mulch to come.

Just need some plants. And maybe some more mulch to give it some height. Next year, we'll just stack it up on top!
Note 1: Ryan is crazy. Note 2: Yeah, our fence fell down last week. Note 3: this is the Egg Hunt Macey was most excited about. Dad is a great egg hider! No throwing it out in the open for you to pick-up.
Note 4: Macey is awesome at posing for pictures!
With 1:00 pm church, we had a big brunch and regular dinner. I sneaked away after breakfast and went to see my running buddy conduct an awesome Easter performance at Plano 8. Then I trekked back to Frisco for my second Easter service. I really enjoyed the music and spirit of the first meeting. And again, the spirit, simpleness and ease of the second. Do what you can with the talent you've got and be grateful for it!
I've been patching Ryan's pants for years. (Repeatedly this year...) Macey had a major crash at school and came home with her first holey jeans. When I told her I needed to patch these pants she turned and looked at me and said, 'Oh, do you still have the fabric you used on Crawly's shoes? (these are baby shoes I made for Macey that are now in her toy box) I think that fabric would make a really great patch.' Huh, I usually just match the denim to whatever came in my iron on patch kit. But I do have iron-on adhesive, so I guess I could do that. So, here they are. Maybe it needed a little something more. Like matching ribbon on the hem or pockets!
Man, wouldn't it be great if you could sit right here snuggled down for hours while your person is scrubbing, vacuuming, and exercising her morning away?!

Dallas Arboretum

On Good Friday, the kids didn't have school so we went on a field trip to the Dallas Arboretum. My children were skeptical that this would be fun, but it turns out it was fun. But tiring!
Macey and Oliver looking at the Fairy Houses.
 Pushin' the world around.
Seriously, these kids loved playing at the water table, I mean, weathering and erosion table...
This was really cool. You could move the continents around to show the different phases the continents have been in.
We were glad to find some distinguished Americans around the main park. Abe.
 George.
 Ben.
Phases of the moon, anyone? Man, I love this Wyatt spirit wear. Why or why did we have to move? ;) (My best girlie Johanna designed this year's goods.)
Kloey went on a field trip too.

There were tulips and azaleas in abundance, and lots of other beautiful flowers.
But my kids were more interested in the albino Koi.

mid March

 Nice selfie, Paddy Dashers!
Macey was super, duper into St Patrick's Day. She was bummed we didn't decorate the house or set any leprechaun traps! And I'm glad that she wore LAST year's shirt without complaint!
We are still learning to do selfies!
Blue and Gold banquet preparations. Ryan did everything himself except for put the cupcakes in/out of the oven.
I did put the blue paper down on my old cookie sheet to keep it from looking so ratty. Dan was in Vegas this weekend, so no family photos!
Look how simple this activity was. It was basically just a regular Pack Mtg with dinner and decorations. Nothing fancy. I liked how easy it was, but part of me misses the awesome B&G I decorated for last year. That was so fun! And cool! And memorable...
Ryan did earn another activity badge.
I loved the colors of this sunset. A pretty night in Frisco, TX.
Yeah, this is a poorly taken photo, but I was trying to not be THAT guy, but when you drive at $250,000 car through town, I guess you are used to folks taking pictures of you! This is a McLaren and I had only ever seen one in a video game!

Paddy Dash

Dan texts me on Monday, "Are we running the Paddy Dash 5K on Saturday?" Not me. Just Dan and Alex this time. They both did awesome. I was home with some stomach bug kids, and did not get to go support them this time. I am glad Dan got these pictures so we could see them in all their running glory!

Alex Fifth Place, 7:47 mile pace. Dan 8:24 mile pace.

Spring Break 2016

First trip on the roof for a stuck football. No thanks, I'll let you get it.
 3rd Afghan finished. Cute, right!?
 Before
After. Trying to keep some dirt around our pear trees.
 Yoda-le-he-hoo.
 Mmmm, churros...
Not at the mall 15 seconds and she finds this cute jewel. Anyone thinking about getting sister a gift just because you love her? She'd like this draon!
We had a Frisco stay-cation this year. Except for the one day that we went to Great Wolf Lodge, just 30 min away in Grapevine, TX.
It is a hotel theme park with an awesome indoor water park. The outside one looked cool, but it certainly wasn't open. The weather was cold and rainy for our 2 day visit.
There were like 5 huge slides, wave pool, lazy river, playgrounds...

Best part might have been the awesome breakfast buffet!

 Inside joke with the Contreras!

Macey was invited to a roller rink bday party. I think the only thing that has changed here in 30 years is the music!

Macers didn't mind. She had  a great time skating around and around and around and around...
